shutterstock_314335529According to an annual report by Hiscox, “For 2014, US companies had at least an 11.7% chance of having an employment charge filed against them. However, some states have far higher instances of charge activity than the national average.”

If your school is in one of these states, your chances of being sued by an employee are MUCH higher:

  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Delaware
  • District of Columbia
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Missouri
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • Tennessee

Schools in these states should be aware of what the landscape looks like should they decide to terminate a relationship with an employee – especially if they are in New Mexico!
