When we first heard the news that Jerusalem’s Christian schools were suspending the 2026–2027 school year, it wasn’t an abstract story from across the world for us — it hit close to home. The League of Christian Schools accredits some of these schools, and we’ve walked alongside their leadership, teachers, and students for years.
Back in February, we saw this coming. Three educators had their teacher files caught in a sudden freeze tied to shifting entry-permit policy. These are not names on a list to us. They are dedicated teachers who were already in the classroom, already trusted by students and families, already doing the work of shaping young hearts and minds in a region where stable, faith-filled education is hard-won.
In February 2026, LCS sent a formal appeal to Israel’s Ministry of Education, asking for an administrative exception on their behalf. But now, just months later, that same policy climate has widened into something far larger: more than 70 teachers and staff across Jerusalem’s Christian schools have had their entry permits denied, forcing a citywide suspension of the school year. What began as individual case files has become a systemic crisis — and it lands squarely on the doorstep of schools we know, support, and pray for.
We continue to stand with our accredited schools in Israel and Palestine during this uncertain season. We’re praying for a swift resolution for every teacher and student caught in the middle of this. And we remain committed to advocating wherever we can so that Christian education in the Holy Land can continue uninterrupted.
