On September 3, 2015, The Washington Post reported:

“Scores on the SAT have sunk to the lowest level since the college admission test was overhauled in 2005, adding to worries about student performance in the nation’s high schools.”

Common Core adoptions have not yet yielded any significant improvements in student attainment of academic content. In fact, the 88 point drop in public student performance would indicate that Common Core is hurting public education. To further underscore that idea, the state of Virginia, a state that has chosen to forgo Common Core adoptions, had increases in math and writing, and no change in reading. This is a stark contrast the number of states that saw a drop.

However, what was not reported was the fact that private schools continue to significantly outpace their public counterparts, all the while teachers unions, and school choice lawsuits continue to attempt the undermining of private school quality.
