Alabama’s tax scholarship program took a HUGE hit last year. As a result, thousands of students will be returning to public schools. SGOs statewide raised only $16 million of the $30 million they raised in 2018 and needed to fully fund current scholarships, threatening those scholarships for the coming school year.
Couple that with the potential loss of students from the fiscal impact of the pandemic, Alabama may have a lot of struggling schools next year.
